The 15-member India squad have been announced for the upcoming ICC World Cup and the players are currently busy with their stint in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). The players are having a tough schedule in the IPL currently. IPL will end on May 12 while the mega event will take place from May 30. India will play their first game on June 5 against South Africa. However, India’s chief selector MSK Prasad said on Monday that the national team’s physio Patrick Farhart is constantly in touch with the IPL franchises so that he can monitor the players’ workload.
While Captain Virat Kohli and Yuzvendra Chahal play for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja and Kedar Jadhav are playing Chennai Super Kings. Whereas, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah play for Mumbai Indians; Dinesh Karthik and Kuldeep Yadav are with Kolkata Knight Riders. On the other hand, Vijay Shankar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad while KL Rahul and Mohammed Shami are with Kings XI Punjab and Shikhar Dhawan for Delhi Capitals. However, the Rajasthan Royals didn’t have any player who is going for the mega event.

“The team management, along with Patrick, is looking into the workload management programme. They are in constant touch with the (respective) physios of IPL franchises,” MSK Prasad said in the press conference on Monday.
However, one of the physios from an IPL franchise earlier said to Sportstar that the players know how to deal with the workload.
“Every IPL franchise is very particular about maintaining the workload of the players and this being a World Cup year, the focus is more on the fitness levels.”

Moreover, every team has applications on their mobile phones and they can keep a close watch on their fitness and other things through the apps and that made the thing easier for Patrick Farhart to monitor the players’ fitness and workload.
