The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has designated Lahore as the sole venue for India’s matches in the upcoming 2025 Champions Trophy. Scheduled to commence in February 2025, this prestigious tournament will be hosted by Pakistan, with Karachi and Rawalpindi serving as the other designated venues.
However, concerns linger over India’s participation in Pakistan due to prevailing political tensions between the two nations. Notably, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) declined to send the Indian team to Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup.
Lahore was chosen as the venue for India’s matches, primarily due to its distance from the border, easing travel for Indian fans who can cross through the Wagah Border to witness the games firsthand. Opting for a single venue aims to minimize logistical challenges and streamline travel arrangements.

Pakistan, the reigning champions of the Champions Trophy after their 2017 triumph over India in the final, anticipates hosting the event for the first time. Originally awarded the tournament in 2008, security concerns compelled a relocation, with South Africa stepping in as hosts the following year.
India’s reluctance to visit Pakistan stems from security apprehensions and diplomatic tensions. Since the 2008 Asia Cup, the Indian team has refrained from touring Pakistan. Similar circumstances arose during the 2023 Asia Cup, prompting organizers to adopt a hybrid model with games split between two venues, including Sri Lanka.
