Punjab Kings opener Prabhsimran Singh continued his outstanding IPL 2026 campaign with another explosive innings against the Mumbai Indians at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Thursday. The wicketkeeper-batter delivered a powerful start for PBKS after MI captain Jasprit Bumrah won the toss and chose to field first.

Prabhsimran looked in complete control from the beginning and attacked the Mumbai bowlers with confidence. The 25-year-old smashed 57 runs off just 32 deliveries at an impressive strike rate of 178.12, hitting six boundaries and four massive sixes during his entertaining knock. It was his fifth half-century of the season and yet another reminder of the impact he has made for Punjab Kings this year.

The aggressive opener also silenced criticism surrounding reports of a 10-kg weight gain during the ongoing season. His fearless batting approach earned praise from fans and cricket experts across social media platforms.

However, Prabhsimran’s innings was not without luck. He received two crucial lifelines during his stay at the crease. Naman Dhir dropped a straightforward catch in the second over, continuing the Mumbai Indians’ disappointing fielding season. Later, Corbin Bosch also failed to hold onto another opportunity in the seventh over, allowing the PBKS opener to continue his assault.

Prabhsimran made MI pay heavily for those missed chances. With this knock, he strengthened his position as Punjab Kings’ leading run-scorer in IPL 2026, taking his tally to 439 runs in 11 innings at a stunning strike rate of 170.15.

Mumbai Indians eventually fought back through Shardul Thakur in the 12th over. After being smashed for boundaries earlier in the innings, Thakur dismissed Prabhsimran with a clever knuckleball. Attempting another big hit after launching the first delivery for six, the PBKS batter mistimed his shot and was caught by Corbin Bosch.

Shardul then produced a dream delivery to remove PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer in the same over, shifting momentum back in Mumbai’s favour during a crucial phase of the contest.
