Team India is currently touring West Indies for a 3-match ODI and it will be followed by a 5-match T20I series. The big names rested from the ODI series which gave the youngsters an opportunity to prove their mettle. Former skipper, Virat Kohli is one of the players who has been rested for the tour and a lot of people have believed that he has been dropped. Despite all the chatter outside, Rohit Sharma has always come in support of his predecessor and now Pragyan Ojha explains why the Indian captain always backs Virat.
Virat Kohli is one of the stalwarts of Indian cricket and in past, he has single-handedly won matches for the Indian team overseas as well, especially in limited-overs cricket. After his constant failures in the last 3 years, there is a section of fans who are voting for Kohli’s removal from the T20 squad but Pragyan Ojha explains why the Indian team is backing Virat Kohli for the T20 World Cup.
The current captain of the Indian team, Rohit Sharma has always shown his support for Virat Kohli ever since the batsman hit a rough patch. He along with the head coach Rahul Dravid has never doubted Kohli’s ability of winning games for India and Pragyan Ojha explains why the management has been backing Kohli even after so many failures.
During a recent post cast with Jamie alter, Pragyan Ojha said, “When you speak about Virat Kohli, you have to comprehend what he has accomplished it is not normal. Getting those 70 hundred in about ten years is incredible. They (Dravid & Rohit) are aware that once he receives that one blow, things will change and Kohli would revert to his previous form. The bar was set so high when he used to bat and make hundreds that now we do not talk about Virat getting a 30 or 40.”
Pragyan Ojha also explained, “Once a batter of his calibre gets a few runs going, then things change drastically. And I am sure as I am hearing that after the West Indies tour, he will be going for all the series thereon. I don’t think he will take any breaks, which is a great thing. He should be doing that. I don’t think there is an issue in his skill or anything else. He’s been batting brilliantly, but sometimes how you handle yourself mentally matters.”
According to the latest report, the selectors want Virat Kohli to make a comeback before Asia Cup i.e., during the Zimbabwe tour. The team management is backing Kohli to be a part of the T20 World Cup and the fans would want the star batsman to get into his old self. As for now, Kohli is on a break and has time to work on his batting.
