Team India speedster Prasidh Krishna has said that bowlers do practice putting the ball in water and trying to bowl with it to replicate dew-like conditions in a match as well. The fast bowler, however, shared that bowling in an international game with dew on the field is a different thing also. Notably, India beat Australia by 44 runs in the second T20I at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday as well.

While he was asked whether the bowlers practice bowling in wet conditions, he added: “We practice putting the ball in the water and trying to bowl with it. But then, the whole aspect of pressure and the game comes in. When you are in a game, you are sweating. The towel that you have is literally wet. I got a fresh towel when I finished the third over and then fourth over, the second ball, the towel is all wet. You really can’t do much at that point of time. You do practice, but then when it comes to the match, it’s a different ball game.”

However, despite the challenging conditions, he did well with the ball, registering figures of 3/41 in his four overs. Responding to another query on bowling with dew on the field, Krishna shared that it is a challenge, but added that bowlers need to learn to tackle it since it’s a part of the game as well.

“Yes, it was quite difficult. We expected this. We were planning about tackling dew even in Vizag. Luckily, we didn’t really have to do much at Vizag. But then, here it was really wet. Even in the sixth over and eighth over, Mukesh [Kumar] was coming and telling me that there’s a lot of dew that’s coming in,” he said.‘This is a part of the game while we are playing in India. As a bowling unit, we need to learn to tackle it. It’s really difficult, but that’s the game and we need to adapt to it,” Prasidh Krishna again stated.

Meanwhile, Prasidh Krishna added that Suryakumar Yadav’s leadership style is very similar to the way he bats. Praising his leadership skills, the fast bowler said that Suryakumar not only gives freedom to players but backs them as well.

Speaking at a post-match press conference after the second T20I, Krishna praised Suryakumar as a leader said,  “I think it shows in the way he (Suryakumar) bats – very similar in his captaincy as well,” he said.”He trusts his players, backs all of us to do what we want to do and he’s there right behind us to support if there’s anything going wrong. That’s been the name of the game and then that’s the word around freedom, go and execute your plans out there and everyone trusts each other in the team.”

“Being a part of the World Cup squad was massive learning for me. That’s the biggest learning curve I’ve had since I’ve been a part of the team. I got to learn a lot the way people prepare the amount of information that you can take, looking at the surface, the situation, the condition, the batsman and all of those things,” Prasidh Krishna concluded.
