Bumrah bowled just eight overs on Saturday before retreating to the dressing room and later leaving the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) with medical staff. Although he returned after three hours and appeared comfortable climbing the steps, India is being cautious to avoid worsening even a minor issue.

“He had a back spasm and went for scans. The medical team is monitoring him, and we’ll have updates once they receive the results,” Prasidh Krishna stated during the post-play press conference.

With Bumrah leading the side in Rohit Sharma’s absence, his departure saw Virat Kohli stepping into captain. Despite the setback, India bowled out Australia for 181 in their second innings, with Prasidh delivering a stellar performance in Bumrah’s absence. Prasidh claimed 3/42 and credited the team’s clear plans for ensuring a seamless transition despite the leadership change.

“No matter who’s leading, our preparation as a team remains thorough. When Bumrah was out, Virat stepped in, and the plans stayed the same. There wasn’t much disruption,” Prasidh Krishan explained.

Reflecting on his performance, Prasidh Krishna acknowledged a slow start but shared how working with the team analyst helped him adjust his lengths. He also spoke about adapting to his role as a one-change bowler, a shift from his usual role with the new ball.

“Bowling one-change required a mental shift. I studied how others handle this role, focusing on providing control for the team with consistent lines and lengths. It’s been a learning curve, and I’ve worked hard to adapt,” he added.

Prasidh’s efforts have been crucial for India in Bumrah’s absence, showcasing his growth and ability to rise to the occasion under pressure.
