Indian fast bowler Prasidh Krishna, currently in the midst of rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, is regaining his strength after a lumbar spine injury he sustained during the 2022 Zimbabwe tour. This injury had sidelined him for over a year. Despite the setback, the 27-year-old’s short ODI career has been marked by remarkable statistics: 25 wickets in 14 matches at an average of 23.92 and an economy rate of 5.32.

Krishna’s time away from the game has taught him the unpredictable nature of a fast bowler’s career, including the reality of injuries. He emphasized that staying optimistic was crucial in overcoming this challenging phase and preparing for his eventual comeback.

Maintaining a balanced perspective, Prasidh Krishna shared, “I’m not someone who gets excited or nervous about anything. I take it in a balanced way. As fast bowlers, you sign up for injuries, you sign up for hard-working days, you sign up for long days… all that is a part of our game. I mean, it’s not easy when everybody is playing a lot of cricket. There’s so much happening and you’re sitting at home not really being available for selection, but I was optimistic,” as he spoke to ESPNCricinfo.

Recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) provided an update on Krishna’s recovery, stating that he is in the final stages of rehabilitation. The BCCI Medical Team is satisfied with his progress and will make a final assessment after observing his performance in practice games.

Krishna’s absence was felt in the IPL 2023, with the Rajasthan Royals recruiting Sandeep Sharma in his place. Notably, in the 2022 season, Krishna played a pivotal role in Rajasthan’s impressive campaign, finishing as the second-highest wicket-taker for the team with 19 wickets from 17 matches at an average of 29.
