Mumbai Indians (MI) finally managed to register the first win in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. After a shocking streak of 8 straight losses, Mumbai Indians finally tasted success in the 44th Match. Though the team won the match, Rohit Sharma failed to do well with his bat eve on his birthday as he was dismissed by R Ashwin, a post in which R Ashwin’s wife consoles Ritika Sajdeh.
What made the dismissal important was that it was Rohit Sharma’s birthday on 30th April and the fans were eagerly hoping for a ‘Ro-HIT Show’. Suryakumar Yadav shined with the bat once again as the right-handed batsman scored a crucial half-century for his team. He was the stand-out performer along with Tilak Verma in the Mumbai Indians’ chase of 159 runs.

However, the MI skipper, fell rather cheaply on his birthday which brought tears to the eyes of his wife. Seeing Ritika Sajdeh emotional, R Ashwin’s wife Prithi hugged her and consoled her. Interestingly, R Ashwin dismissed the batsman on a paltry 2 runs in the third over of the MI inning.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma asked Rajasthan Royals to bat first and RR managed to post a below-par total of 158 runs. Jos Butler continued his dream run in the IPL, as he scored yet another half-fifty for his team, further consolidating his ‘Orange Cap’ claim. Apart from Jos Butler, other Rajasthan batters failed to do much. During the chase, Mumbai Indians had a decent start and won the match with 4 balls to spare.

Suryakumar Yadav was at his usual best as he played a match-winning knock of 51 runs, making sure that his team wins their first game of the league. The 5-time champions attained a victory after a surprising 8 losses which have almost made it impossible for them to reach the playoffs. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals have won 6 out of their 9 games and are on course to reach the playoffs.
