The young Indian opener Prithvi Shaw seems uncertain to feature in the playing XI for Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy opener against Railways on November 1. He can make it into the team only if he manages to clear the Test prior to the game.
As per the reports of PTI, earlier Shaw wasn’t in the contention for selection, as he was still recovering from an elbow injury which he sustained during the semi-final game of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Furthermore, a selector added that while at the moment he is unfit, Shaw could be added to the squad if he passes the fitness test before the game.

Shaw has had a memorable international debut and also adjourned as the man of the match in the first game and also went on to receive the man of the series awards for his scintillating performance in the two-match series. Then he carried the form in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018 to help Mumbai to win the title for the first time. He had scored a fine century on his international debut as he scored 134 in the first Test match against the Windies.
Shreyas Iyer, Mumbai’s Vijay Hazare Trophy-winning skipper, will continue to lead the squad in the Ranji Trophy as well, announced by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) on Thursday evening.
The veteran fast bowler Dhawan Kulkarni has been named as deputy skipper in the 15 member squad. Other regulars Akhil Herwadkar, Siddhesh Lad, Aditya Tare have also been named.
