In a heartbreaking incident from Punjab’s Firozpur, local cricketer Harjeet Singh died of a heart attack moments after smashing a six during a local match. A chilling video circulating on social media shows Harjeet confidently hitting a big shot over the boundary, but as he walked towards the middle of the pitch, he suddenly went down on his knees, clearly in distress.

At first, the non-striker was unaware of the seriousness of Harjeet’s condition. But as Harjeet collapsed completely, he and other players rushed to help, desperately trying CPR on the ground. Despite their immediate efforts, Harjeet could not be revived and was declared dead on the spot, reportedly due to cardiac arrest.

The incident has left the local cricketing community and fans across the country shocked. Many expressed sorrow and raised concerns about increasing cases of young athletes suffering heart attacks.

“Sometimes we ignore signs from our body when playing sports. We need to be more aware,” one user commented online. Another person noted, “Why are so many young people having heart attacks? We need to make health awareness a priority in schools and colleges.”

This tragedy comes less than a year after 35-year-old professional cricketer Imran Patel died of cardiac arrest while playing a local league match in Pune. He had reported chest and left arm pain before collapsing on the field despite attempts to help him.

These incidents underline the critical need for greater cardiac awareness, prompt medical screening, and immediate first-aid training at local sporting events.
