Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz was involved in one of the most bizarre moments of the 2026 Shpageeza Cricket League after a fan invaded the field and snatched his cap during Mis Ainak Knights’ clash against Band-e-Amir Dragons on Friday. The unusual incident took place at the Rahmat Wali Masroor Cricket Ground in Khost during a brief pause in play.

A spectator breached security, ran directly towards Gurbaz, grabbed his cap, and sprinted away before security officials could intervene. While the unexpected pitch invasion briefly stunned players, officials, and spectators, Gurbaz handled the situation with remarkable composure. Instead of reacting angrily, the Afghanistan opener smiled as teammates watched the bizarre moment unfold. Security personnel quickly chased down the fan, and play resumed without further disruption.
Videos of the incident rapidly spread across social media, with cricket fans applauding Gurbaz for maintaining his calm and taking the incident in good spirits. His light-hearted response quickly became a talking point among supporters, adding to the viral nature of the clip.

The distraction had little impact on Gurbaz’s performance or his team’s dominance. After winning the toss, the Mis Ainak Knights captain opted to bowl first, a decision that proved highly effective as Band-e-Amir Dragons were bowled out for just 114 in 19.3 overs.

Ziaur Rahman and Mujeeb Ur Rahman led the bowling attack with three wickets each, while Khalil Gurbaz and Nooristani Omarzai claimed two wickets apiece. Azizullah Miakhil was the lone bright spot for the Dragons, top-scoring with 30 runs off 25 deliveries.
In response, Mis Ainak Knights completed the chase in emphatic fashion, reaching 115/2 in just 9.4 overs. Gurbaz anchored the innings with a fluent half-century, while Khalid Taniwal also struck an unbeaten fifty to seal a comprehensive eight-wicket victory.

The convincing win lifted Mis Ainak Knights to second place in the five-team tournament after two matches. Although Gurbaz starred with the bat and as captain, it was his humorous reaction to the cap-snatching incident that stole the spotlight, creating one of the most memorable off-the-ball moments of the Shpageeza Cricket League season.
