In 2015, Australian fast-bowling legend Glenn McGrath had said that he will always trust Rahul Dravid to bat for his life if he had to choose between Brian Lara, Sachin Tendulkar, and Dravid. It shows how much the legendary batsman is respected even by his opponents.
When the same question was posed to Dravid during an interview with ESPNcricinfo he picked his former India team-mate Sachin Tendulkar for the task of batting for his life. Dravid in that interview said, “I’d say the best guy I played with was Sachin, in terms of his quality and class.”

Having scored as many as 13288 Test runs by facing some of the fiercest bowlers in the history of Test cricket during his 16-year long career, Rahul also had two bowlers on his list he would have liked to face. He said, “Michael Holding and Jeff Thompson. Maybe for a few deliveries, not for too many and definitely not without a helmet.”
When asked what was the funniest sledge he faced during the course of his illustrious career, the former Indian captain picked the one by the Australian fielders when he walked out to join V.V.S. Laxman at the crease while following on in famous Kolkata Test victory in 2001.
Dravid recalled, “When I walked in at Kolkata, I was reminded that I’d been batting at No. 3 in the first Test, and by the time we reached the third innings in Kolkata, I was No. 6. So I was told that by the end of the series I’d be No. 12, which I thought was really funny.”
Rahul Dravid is currently the coach of India A and India U-19 teams.
