Singer Rahul Vaidya has sparked controversy after taking a dig at Indian cricket superstar Virat Kohli, referring to him as a “joker” on social media. What began as light-hearted banter quickly escalated into a full-blown backlash from Kohli’s loyal fanbase. Vaidya, however, didn’t back down. Doubling down on his comments, he posted, “Virat Kohli’s fans are even bigger jokers than Virat!” The remark triggered an uproar online, prompting paparazzi to confront the singer about his statement.

Rahul Vaidya attempted to tone things down, saying, “Main bhi Virat Kohli ka fan hoon yaar. Maine pagal nahi bola hai, joker bola hai,” clarifying that he meant no harm. The controversy stems from a recent incident involving Kohli and social media influencer Avneet Kaur. A ‘like’ from Kohli’s official Instagram account on a post related to Kaur had the internet buzzing.

With speculation swirling, Virat Kohli issued a clarification, attributing the ‘like’ to a glitch in Instagram’s algorithm. His response momentarily calmed the storm—until Rahul Vaidya decided to weigh in. Taking a jab at Kohli’s explanation, Vaidya posted an Instagram story mocking the RCB batter’s reasoning:

“Going forward, the algorithm might like many photos which I didn’t. So girls, please don’t do PR around it. It’s not my fault, it’s Instagram’s mistake.” The sarcastic tone didn’t sit well with fans, and the online drama only intensified.

Vaidya later claimed that Kohli had blocked him on Instagram, adding another layer of humor to the situation. “Virat Kohli has blocked me, as you all know. I think that too is an Instagram glitch,” he said. Mimicking Kohli’s earlier explanation, Vaidya quipped, “Maybe the algorithm told Kohli, ‘Let me block Rahul Vaidya for you.’ Right?”
What began as a minor digital misstep has now turned into a trending social media spectacle involving India’s biggest cricket icon and a celebrity singer.
