As the Test series concluded, Ravichandran Ashwin now shifts his focus to the upcoming 17th edition of the IPL, where he’s set to represent his franchise. His return to IPL preparations was marked by a warm welcome in Jaipur, where Rajasthan Royals surprised him in his room to honour his achievement.

In a heartwarming clip shared by Rajasthan Royals on their social media platforms, Ravichandran Ashwin was greeted by several RR players, including Shimron Hetmyer and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who extended their congratulations for reaching the milestone. “To ouRR Ashwin from the Royals Family. With love, welcome home legend!” RR captioned the post, encapsulating the team’s admiration for the veteran spinner.

Turning the focus to Rajasthan Royals’ IPL journey, the franchise has faced challenges in recent editions of the tournament despite clinching the inaugural title in 2008. Led by Sanju Samson, the team harbours hopes of turning the tide in the upcoming season.

Under Samson’s leadership, RR reached the IPL final in 2022 but fell short of clinching the trophy against Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans. However, their fortunes took a dip in 2023 as they failed to secure a playoff berth, finishing fifth in the standings due to a lower net run rate than Mumbai Indians.

As IPL 2024 approaches, Rajasthan Royals are set to kick off their campaign against Lucknow Super Giants at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on March 24. The team aims to start on a positive note and aspire to reclaim their winning ways in the tournament.
