Chennai Super Kings (CSK) debutant Ramakrishna Ghosh made an immediate impact with a sensational fielding effort to dismiss Will Jacks during the IPL 2026 clash against the Mumbai Indians at MA Chidambaram Stadium on May 2. The 28-year-old pulled off a stunning diving catch to his left, ensuring MI lost an early wicket in the contest.

The moment came in just the second over of the innings when Anshul Kamboj delivered a length ball outside off. Jacks attempted an aggressive lofted drive but failed to time it cleanly, with the ball flying off the lower part of the bat towards deep point. Ghosh, stationed at deep backward point, sprinted in sharply and timed his dive to perfection, completing a two-handed catch just inches above the turf. It was a high-quality effort that underlined both his anticipation and athleticism on debut.

Jacks, who had looked dangerous in his previous outing against Sunrisers Hyderabad, departed for just one run off five balls, giving CSK an early advantage. The catch not only lifted the energy in the field but also set the tone for the hosts’ disciplined start.

CSK continued to build pressure soon after, with Noor Ahmad removing a well-set Ryan Rickelton for 37, further denting MI’s progress. At 70/2 after eight overs, MI were attempting to rebuild through Naman Dhir and Suryakumar Yadav.
