Ramiz Hails PSL Star as the Next Virat Kohli

Pakistan’s premier cricketing event, the Pakistan Super League was a big success for Pakistan cricket. However, things did not end well due to the COVID-19 pandemic which resulted in the tournament being called off. But still, many Pakistani cricketers had a memorable presence and performances in the 2020 season of PSL and etched their names in the hearts and minds of Pakistani supporters.

The Tournament also lead to a debate discussing the potential and future in Pakistan cricket.  Many players like Azam Khaan, Umaid Asif,  Zeeshan Ashraf, Haider Ali stole the limelight with brilliant performances throughout the season. THeses players performed consistently and helped their respective teams win the matches single-handedly and winning the crucial moments in the game.

With a T20 World Cup, all scheduled to be hosted in October in Australia, having good in form players like them would be positive news for the Pakistani selectors. Former Pakistan player tuned broadcaster Ramiz Raja has been particularly impressed with Pakistani batsman Haider Ali who plyed his trade for the Peshawar Zalmi in PSL 2020.

Ramiz Raja hails Haider Ali and terms him as sheer talent. Ali has impressed many people and grab many eyeballs in his first season of PSL. The broadcaster also believes that Haider Ali has a similar talent like Pakistan player Babar Azam and India team captain Virat Kohli.  s a 19- year old Ramiz also says that the young Haider Ali will have to add consistency to his game and work hard if the player wants to excel at the sport.

Speaking more about the talented lad, Ramiz discussed the pros and cons of the young batsman. Raja believes that for a batman like Ali, slotting in at no 3 is a perfect position or him. He also lauds the young Ali’s aggressive approach to batting not fearing taking on the best of bowlers and to hit them out of the park.

Speaking of the negatives Raja says that Haidar Ali needs to develop his match awareness and plan his innings so that he can stay at the crease for longer durations. Ramiz wants Ali to look up at Kohli and learn how they just rely on conventional cricket shots instead of trying something out of the league and play a ball on its merit.

“Haider has immense talent and has made a name for himself in his first season of PSL. However, he needs to bring consistency in his performance and his ideal position is number three in the batting order. He has big quality shots in his armour and doesn’t need to improvise much as his power-hitting base is quite strong,” said Ramiz Raja.

“Haider needs to follow the approach of Babar Azam and Virat Kohli. These two doesn’t improvise much as they have so much talent and rely mainly on conventional shots. Haider has a similar talent as Babar and Kohli, but just needs to work on his game awareness and play longer innings,” he added.
