Afghanistan’s promising leg-spinner Rashid Khan has been taking huge leaps in international cricket in recent times. After his successful international career, several franchises in various T20 leagues are running for the youngster.

In World T20 2016, Rashid gave some hints of his talent and since then there was no looking back for him. After bagging an IPL contract with Sunrisers Hyderabad, followed by a CPL contract with Jamaica Tallawahs, the young lad has now got the Adelaide Strikers in the BBL.

Adelaide Strikers has roped in Rashid Khan for BBL’s upcoming season as he has become the first Afghanistan player to play in BBL. He also becomes the second player from Afghanistan to play in two other high profile leagues like IPL and CPL.

Talking about the new signing, Adelaide Strikers coach Jason Gillespie said, “Rashid has set the world alight in T20 cricket with his energy, enthusiasm, and great control for a young guy. He has some great variations, can bowl stump-to-stump and can be very hard to pick. We’re delighted to be able to offer him the opportunity to play for the Adelaide Strikers.”

Rashid has scalped 63 wickets in 29 ODIs, including the fourth best figures in ODI history, 7 for 18 against the West Indies in June. He took a hat-trick in the CPL and became the first bowler to do so.

The young lad is the second overseas player on board for Strikers, after hard-hitting South African Colin Ingram. The next BBL season starts on December 20.

Current Adelaide Strikers squad:

Wes Agar, Alex Carey, Jono Dean, Ben Laughlin, Jake Lehmann, Michael Neser, Peter Siddle, Billy Stanlake, Jake Weatherald, Colin Ingram (overseas), Rashid Khan (overseas)
