The head coach of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Delhi Capitals (DC), Ricky Ponting’s remark on him not be allowing the veteran spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin from mankading in IPL 2020 has reignited the discussion over the unique way of dismissal. Ashwin had used the form of dismissal to get the wicket of Jos Buttler during a match against Rajasthan Royals. The dismissal was seen as a controversial one with debate raging over whether it was within the ‘spirit of the game’ or not.
