This marks Ashwin’s sixth stint at the top of the rankings, having first achieved the number-one position in December 2015. The talented off-spinner surpassed compatriot Jasprit Bumrah to regain the summit. Player of the Match Kuldeep Yadav, who impressed with a seven-wicket haul, soared 15 places to a career-best 16th position in the rankings.

India’s captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill also experienced noteworthy gains, climbing five places to sixth and 11 places to a career-best 20th, respectively. Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Player of the Series, moved up two places to eighth in the rankings after delivering a stellar performance with the bat.

Jaiswal’s aggregate rating points of 740 after nine Tests place him in illustrious company, with only Australians Don Bradman (752) and Mike Hussey (741) having tallied more after the same number of Tests. In the bowling department, England’s Zak Crawley and Jonny Bairstow each moved up a spot in the rankings, while spinner Shoaib Bashir progressed by 11 places to 71st.

Australia’s 2-0 series win over New Zealand in Christchurch propelled them to second place behind India in the WTC table. Alex Carey’s match-winning innings of 98 not out elevated him from 50th to 38th in the rankings. Fast bowler Josh Hazlewood continued his impressive form, claiming six wickets in the match to secure the second position behind Ashwin.

Matt Henry, with a splendid performance of seven for 67 in the first innings, climbed six places to 12th and surpassed the 700-point mark for the first time in his career. Among all-rounders, he now stands at sixth.

Other notable changes include Mitchell Marsh’s rise of eight places to 55th, Tom Latham’s climb of six places to 35th, and Rachin Ravindra’s ascent of 10 places to 66th in the batting rankings. In the Men’s ODI Rankings, Ireland’s Harry Tector reached a career-best-equalling fourth position after a series against Afghanistan.
