With the highly anticipated 17th edition of the IPL drawing closer, RCB recently hosted an unboxing event at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium, marking the occasion with several memorable celebrations. Among the highlights was a special tribute to the women’s team, who clinched their maiden WPL (Women’s Premier League) title by triumphing over the Delhi Capitals women in the tournament’s final.

The men’s team honoured their achievement with a guard of honour, underscoring the significance of their victory. Adding to the excitement of the event, RCB made a surprising announcement regarding a significant rebranding ahead of IPL 2024. The franchise revealed that they would be changing their name from Royal Challengers Bangalore to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, symbolizing a deep-rooted connection to the city and its heritage.

“The city we love, the Heritage we embrace, and this is the time for our. PRESENTING TO YOU, ROYAL CHALLENGERS BENGALURU,” RCB announced on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter).

 

Looking ahead to RCB’s upcoming fixtures, the team is set to kick off the season against the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings on March 22. The opening match will take place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, with both teams aiming to start their campaign on a high note.

Chennai Super Kings, the reigning champions, will enter the tournament with a formidable lineup under the leadership of MS Dhoni. Having secured their fifth IPL title by defeating the Gujarat Titans in the final of IPL 2023, Chennai Super Kings will be eager to maintain their winning momentum.

In contrast, Royal Challengers Bengaluru endured a forgettable campaign in IPL 2023, exiting the tournament during the group stages. With renewed vigor and aspirations of lifting the coveted trophy, Bengaluru aims to make a resounding comeback in the IPL.
