Royal Challengers Bengaluru CEO Rajesh Menon has backed Virat Kohli to continue wearing the RCB jersey for several more seasons, saying the former India captain still has the hunger and fitness to play for another three to four years. Menon even suggested that Kohli could remain with the franchise until at least 2030, underlining just how central the batting great remains to RCB’s long-term plans.

Kohli’s bond with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru is among the most iconic player-franchise relationships in IPL history. Since the league began in 2008, he has represented RCB in every single season and grown into the undisputed face of the team. Over nearly two decades, Kohli has not only delivered match-winning performances but has also become the symbol of loyalty, intensity and consistency for the Bengaluru-based franchise.
Statistically, Kohli’s IPL legacy is unmatched. He is the highest run-scorer in the tournament’s history with 9,336 runs from 283 matches, and his record continues to grow with every season. His influence was once again felt in IPL 2026, when he played a major role in helping RCB defend their title and strengthen their standing as one of the league’s most successful sides.

“RCB and Virat are different sides of the same coin. He has been the constant factor for RCB throughout. We have not seen him not being part of RCB even if he moves out of his cricketing career. We have to figure out. That said, next three-four years, I am sure he’ll be playing … for at least four years,” Rajesh Menon told CNBC TV18.

“He is fit, the hunger never dies. You saw him this IPL season bring on the energy, runs, attitude. Everything was there. Three-four years, absolutely no problem,” the RCB CEO added.
Kohli’s recent IPL seasons have been a reminder of his enduring class. In 2016, he produced one of the greatest batting campaigns ever seen in the tournament, smashing a record 973 runs. He followed that with the Orange Cap in IPL 2024 after scoring 741 runs, before another outstanding season in 2025 brought him 657 runs at an average of 54.75 as RCB finally ended their title drought.

The veteran batter then delivered again in IPL 2026. Kohli was RCB’s most dependable performer throughout the campaign and finished as their leading run-scorer with 675 runs. His biggest contribution came in the final against Gujarat Titans, where he anchored the chase with an unbeaten 75 off 42 balls, reached the fastest fifty of his IPL career and finished the match in style with a six as RCB lifted back-to-back titles.
