In a massive development, around 30 Indian cricketers have decided to draw curtains on their international cricket aspiration to make a career in the United States of America. These cricketers are planning to participate in the US-based Minor League Cricket to get regular playing time.
India’s U-19 World Cup-winning captain Unmukt Chand is being the most recognizable face among all these cricketers, who decided to take retirement from Indian cricket and pursue his career in the USA.

The Major League Cricket (MLC) is a venture located in New York. The purpose of MLC is to run the country’s first professional T20 cricket league and grow and promote the sport. The tournament’s goal is to develop a strong team preparing for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. MLC, which is sanctioned solely by USA Cricket. Nonetheless, it marks the most ambitious and transformative undertaking in the history of American cricket.
MLC is inviting cricketers from all over the world to play in the league and increase the competitiveness in the league. It is a six-team based league of T20 format. The USA is eyeing to emulate BCCI’s Indian Premier League (IPL) in the near future.

With BCCI not allowing their players to play cricket outside India, multiple cricketers have taken a premature retirement and went to look for career options outside the nation.
The hype began when Smit Patel, a former India U-19 cricketer, announced his early retirement to compete in the MLC. Former Rajasthan Royals bowler Siddharth Trivedi and former India U-19 captain Unmukt Chand are among those who have switched ship and went to Minor League Cricket.
Recently, it was reported that Sri Lanka’s banned trio of Niroshan Dickwella, Kusal Mendis and Danushka Gunathilaka are also planning to participate in the MLC. Two out of these three have already reached America and will feature in the league.
