Indian cricketer Rinku Singh and Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj have officially announced their engagement, marking a new chapter in their journey that has been nearly three years in the making. The engagement ceremony was held on Sunday in Lucknow, surrounded by close family, political dignitaries, and a wave of joy that rippled across social media.

Priya Saroj shared a touching post on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “This day has been in our hearts for so long – almost three years – and the wait was worth every second. Engaged – with full hearts and a forever to go.” Her words captured the emotional significance of the moment, resonating with supporters and well-wishers alike.

A video from the celebration also went viral, showing Rinku Singh lovingly watching Priya dance with family and friends, a glimpse into the warmth of the occasion.

The event was attended by several notable figures from the political sphere, including SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, Dimple Yadav, Jaya Bachchan, Ram Gopal Yadav, and Shivpal Yadav. BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla sent his heartfelt congratulations, while former India pacer Praveen Kumar was present in person to bless the couple.

Due to international commitments, many of Rinku’s Indian teammates were unable to attend, as the Test squad had already departed for England ahead of their series starting June 20.

Rinku Singh, hailing from Aligarh, has featured in 2 ODIs and 33 T20Is for India, and played a pivotal role in Kolkata Knight Riders’ 2024 IPL triumph. Priya Saroj, 26, a lawyer by profession, is among the youngest MPs in India and represents Machhlishahr in Uttar Pradesh.

Daughter of veteran politician Tufani Saroj, she began her parliamentary career in 2024, defeating BJP’s BP Saroj by over 35,000 votes. Their wedding is set for November 18 at the Taj Hotel in Varanasi.
