Bowling a perfect yorker on a consistent basis is the dream of any fast bowler. It is an art, which is mastered by very few bowlers in the business. The reason why a yorker is cherished so much in cricket is that it seldom gives a chance to the batsman to score a big shot off it.

Bowling a yorker is difficult because of the risk which it brings with it. If a bowler fails during an attempt to bowl a yorker, the delivery can either be a full toss or a full-length delivery, which is comparatively easier for the batsman to hit.

Sri Lankan fast bowler, Lasith Malinga, is someone who bowled yorkers at will throughout his career. He has picked up 488 wickets across formats for Sri Lanka. The Pakistani duo of Wasim Akram (916 wickets across formats) and Waqar Younis (789) were the other renowned names who mastered this art.
