Currently, Delhi Capitals (DC) are locking horns with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 41st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 in Sharjah. After winning the toss, the KKR skipper, Eoin Morgan asked DC to bat and KKR’s bowlers delivered with dismissing in-form Shikhar Dhawan in the powerplay itself. However, an eye-catching moment took place in the 17th over of the first innings when the DC skipper, Rishabh Pant almost hit the helmet of Dinesh Karthik with his bat.
On the first delivery of the 17th over bowled by Varun Chakravarthy, Rishabh Pant was looking to smash the ball towards the offside, but he bottom edged onto the deck and the ball bounced up. The ball could’ve crashed onto the stumps and in order to prevent that, Pant tries to swat the ball away with the bat.
However, in doing so, Rishabh Pant nearly smashed KKR wicket-keeper, Dinesh Karthik’s helmet. The latter took a tumble in anticipation and replays show that was a very close call, in the end, Pant and Karthik shared a light-hearted smile.
Here is the video of the incident:

DC made one forced change in the XI as their opener, Prithvi Shaw got injured and Steve Smith was added in place of the youngster. The new opening pair of Smith and Dhawan managed to add 35 runs for the first wicket before the latter losing his wicket against Lockie Ferguson. Notably, Shikhar Dhawan managed to score 24 runs off 20 balls.
Meanwhile, former DC skipper, Shreyas Iyer was also dismissed for a duck by Sunil Narine. Iyer was able to contribute only 1 run from 5 balls. In the 13th over Lockie Ferguson came and he sent another DC opener back to the dugout. As he castled Steve Smith 39(34) in that over with fierce delivery.
