Arjun Tendulkar’s long-awaited debut for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2026 nearly turned memorable within moments, but a missed opportunity behind the stumps denied the young pacer his maiden wicket for the franchise during the clash against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

After spending the entire season on the bench, Arjun finally received his opportunity in LSG’s final league game. The left-arm pacer has constantly remained under public scrutiny because of the massive legacy attached to his surname. Being the son of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has brought enormous expectations, and every performance from the youngster continues to attract attention from fans and experts alike.

Arjun was introduced into the attack immediately after the powerplay and almost made an instant impact. Bowling a sharp short delivery to PBKS opener Prabhsimran Singh, the youngster forced the batter into an awkward glove behind the wicket. Rishabh Pant reacted quickly and dived to his left, but the difficult chance slipped through his gloves, denying Arjun a breakthrough on just his fourth ball for LSG.

The missed catch came at a costly moment in the innings. Prabhsimran was batting aggressively and had not fully settled at the crease when the opportunity arrived. Arjun looked visibly disappointed after the drop, while Pant himself appeared frustrated knowing the chance could have shifted momentum in LSG’s favour.

The Punjab Kings opener made the most of the lifeline and immediately counterattacked. Arjun’s following over went for 14 runs as Prabhsimran began dominating the bowlers during the chase.

Earlier in the match, LSG posted a competitive total of 196/6 after being asked to bat first. Ayush Badoni once again impressed with a quickfire 43 before falling to a brilliant stumping by Prabhsimran Singh off Yuzvendra Chahal’s bowling. England wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis anchored the innings with a superb 72, while Abdul Samad provided the finishing flourish with an unbeaten 37.

Yuzvendra Chahal emerged as Punjab Kings’ standout bowler, finishing with figures of 2/24 in his four overs. Punjab Kings, however, suffered an early setback in the chase when Mohammed Shami dismissed Priyansh Arya for a golden duck on the very first ball of the innings. The experienced pacer struck again soon after, removing Cooper Connolly for 18.

Despite the early collapse, Prabhsimran Singh and skipper Shreyas Iyer rebuilt the innings brilliantly with a crucial partnership. Prabhsimran, who survived on 21 after Pant’s dropped catch, continued his aggressive approach and kept PBKS firmly in the contest as the chase gathered momentum.
