The Indian cricketing fraternity was on fire when the young wicket-keeper batsman, Rishabh Pant, who took a stunning catch while flying on to his left in the second session of Day 2 of the ongoing second Test against England second Test match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Pant’s superb catch sent back England batsman Ollie Pope as India tightened their grip further on the match.
Pant, who has often been seen getting criticized for his glovework behind the stumps, tried to prove a point by holding on to that excellent catch off Mohammed Siraj’s first ball of his first Test at home in the 39th over of the game. Siraj strayed down the leg side but some extra bounce on the ball was unexpected for Pope and ended up getting a glove.

Rishabh Pant took one step towards his left and put a full-length dive to take the catch with his left hand, but when he made contact with the ground, the ball slipped out of his grasp and he completed the catch on his second attempt. Here is the video of the brilliant take:

Pant took another acrobatic catch to get rid of Jack Leach off Ishant Sharma’s bowling. It happened in the 59th over when Ishant straightened off a length outside off, forcing Leach to push it with hard hands. The ball took the outside edge of Leach’s bat and traveled towards the left of Pant who dived full length to pluck a screamer and the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, who was standing at first slip, appreciated the youngster.
