Reflecting on his early days in the Indian cricket team, Rishabh Pant reminisced about his debut and the welcoming atmosphere fostered by the senior players. Making his mark after a standout performance in the 2016 U19 World Cup and impressive displays for Delhi Capitals in the IPL, Pant earned his international debut against England in 2017 during the T20I series at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
Recalling the nerves and excitement of his debut, Rishabh Pant emphasized the warm reception he received from the senior members of the squad, which played a significant role in easing his transition into the team environment.
“The majority of the time I didn’t feel like that. I was in awe at the beginning. You had watched all of them on TV. But they were all welcoming. Even the super seniors made me comfortable,” Rishabh Pant shared in Star Sports ‘Believe’ series, reflecting on the inclusive team culture.
Acknowledging the nurturing environment cultivated within the team, Rishabh Pant highlighted the importance of feeling at home, especially as a young player stepping onto the international stage.
“It’s the team culture to make everyone comfortable. And when it happens at the start, it’s good. Because at 17-18 years, you know nothing about life,” Rishabh Pant expressed, underlining the invaluable support he received during his early days.
Drawing insights from his experiences, Pant emphasized the significance of learning and growth, recognizing the lessons embedded in every opportunity and challenge encountered.
“You have experiences of course, I tried to learn as a kid. I think all of these things are a benefit, not everyone gets experiences like these. And the things you learn from your experiences help you a lot in your life. Your brain starts reading life like that,” Rishabh Pant remarked, emphasizing the transformative power of experience.
Despite his modest contribution on debut, Pant’s fearless approach and raw talent left an indelible mark, symbolizing the unwavering spirit of youth ready to embrace the challenges of international cricket. Supported by stellar performances from seasoned campaigners like Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni, India secured a resounding victory propelled by a commanding batting display and a clinical bowling performance led by Yuzvendra Chahal.
