Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant delivered an inspiring message to his teammates as the franchise began preparations for the Indian Premier League 2026 season. Addressing both new and returning players, Pant emphasised the importance of communication, learning from one another, and building a strong team culture ahead of the tournament.

During the mini auction last December, Lucknow Super Giants strengthened their squad by adding several key players. The franchise secured Sri Lanka’s star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga and South African fast bowler Anrich Nortje, while also bringing in domestic talents Mukul Choudhary, Naman Tiwari, and Akshat Raghuwanshi. Australia’s wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis also joined the squad, giving the team a balanced mix of international experience and emerging talent.
In addition, LSG made two notable trades ahead of the season, acquiring Arjun Tendulkar from the Mumbai Indians and veteran Indian pacer Mohammed Shami from Sunrisers Hyderabad. In a video shared by the franchise, Rishabh Pant welcomed the squad and encouraged players to build strong relationships within the team.

“A lot of people are from last year. A few new faces for sure. Welcome, everyone. Let’s look to build the relationships. If we don’t talk about cricket, we’re not going to improve,” Rishabh Pant said. “As an individual, let’s take whatever we can from all these gentlemen here and try to build something for this season to look forward to.”

Rishabh Pant also stressed the importance of clarity in personal and team goals as the squad begins its pre-season preparations.
“When we come into a season, there’s always a thought that we want to build something and win. But it’s important to be clear in your thought process — what you want to achieve as an individual and as a team.”

LSG endured a challenging campaign last year, finishing seventh in the standings with six wins despite Pant’s unbeaten 118 in the final league match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The franchise will begin its IPL 2026 journey against Punjab Kings on April 1 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium before facing Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 5.
