Rishabh Pant is one of those players who has come into the limelight within a very short period of time. He has been performing really well from the last couple of months. Despite being performing well, he didn’t get selected in the 15-member World Cup squad of India as the selectors found Dinesh Karthik more useful than Pant. However, he has been named as the standbys for the mega event.

Pant is currently playing for Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and has been in a great form. He had also done wonders earlier in Test cricket by hitting two hundred in overseas and everyone started believing that Pant could be the next big thing in Indian cricket after MS Dhoni.

“I was disappointed, obviously. Every player playing for the country dreams of participating in the World Cup. It would have been an entirely different experience. I was disappointed but as a cricketer or a professional, I know that there is nothing I will achieve if I continue to think about it. I try to move on and focus on the matches that I am playing,” Pant was quoted as saying by AajTak in an exclusive interview.

Pant’s exclusion had left everyone with utter surprise. But he has shared the things which he has learnt from former India captain MS Dhoni and the current captain Virat Kohli.

“I have learnt a lot from both MS Dhoni and Virat. The main thing I would say is discipline. Even till date, Mahi bhai is not late. He follows the same process every day. An international player believes in his process, the things that suit him well. One thing which Virat bhaiya told me and I will never forget is that playing 100 games is not necessary to become an experienced player. Learning from other player’s mistake and not repeating it is equally important. You can get that even from 10 games and there is no need to play 100 games,” Pant said while talking about the valuable lessons he has learnt from Dhoni and Kohli.
