Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul, two of India’s most senior batters in the current setup, shared a humorous exchange at the crease that quickly went viral.
During the 33rd over of India’s second innings, as Brydon Carse prepared to bowl, stump microphones picked up a snippet of conversation between the two. KL Rahul, ever the composed figure, offered Pant a piece of advice: “Ball achhe se dekho” (Watch the ball carefully). In classic Rishabh Pant style, the southpaw quipped, “Haanji, aisa nahi hai na ki… ghuma du, ball achhe se dekhta hoon” (Yes, it’s not like I’ll just swing randomly. I watch the ball well).

Both Rahul and Pant have stepped up in this Test following the retirements of stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. In the first innings, KL Rahul looked solid but fell short of a fifty, scoring 42 off 78 balls. Pant, however, went on to hammer a sensational 134 off 178 deliveries, laced with 12 fours and six maximums.
