In a moment of visible frustration, Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Riyan Parag lost his cool at teammate Yashasvi Jaiswal during their IPL 2025 clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens on Sunday, May 4. The incident occurred during the 10th over of KKR’s innings when emotions were running high, and every run mattered.

Riyan Parag, who brought himself on to bowl, delivered a flighted delivery outside off to KKR youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi. The batter attempted to loft it over the wide long-off region. Yashasvi Jaiswal, stationed at the boundary, covered good ground to his left and made a fine sliding stop, restricting what looked like a certain boundary to just a couple of runs.

However, despite Jaiswal’s efforts to save the team valuable runs, Riyan Parag appeared unimpressed. The RR skipper believed that a single was all that was on offer and felt Jaiswal could have prevented the second run with sharper fielding. In a heated reaction, Parag was seen hurling abuse in Jaiswal’s direction, clearly upset with what he perceived as a lapse in intensity.

This isn’t the first time the Royals have faced fielding woes this season. Earlier in the game, debutant Kunal Singh Rathore was forced off the field after splitting the webbing on his hand while trying to stop a shot from Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Rathore’s exit due to a bleeding hand only added to RR’s concerns, and moments like Parag’s outburst reflect the pressure the team is under.

While such incidents are not uncommon in high-stakes T20 matches, especially in the IPL, the Royals will hope that these emotional flare-ups don’t affect the team’s chemistry as the tournament heads into its business end.
