India batsman Robin Uthappa will be seen adorning a new role altogether in the second season of the Ten Premier league(10PL). He will be the brand ambassador and the mentor for the team to be owned by Tayyarah.com’s in the tournament expected to commence from 19th March at the historic Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

The tournament is in its second edition and boasts to be the world’s biggest Tennis Ball cricket tournament with as many as 16 teams participating in the competition.

The tournament apart forms the regular tennis ball cricketers, also features quite a many cricketers from the Sub-continent with the likes of Pakistan pacer Mohammed Asif, Sri Lanka’s Thilan Thushara and Chamara Silva. From India, few Ranji players are known to feature in the event with former Rajasthan Royals‘ pacer Kamran Khan being the only known face.

The mentor for Team Tayyarah will play their first match on 21st March at the designated Stadium. He will be present for the teams both the matches that are scheduled to take place on the same day. Talking about the game, As quoted in Sportskeeda, Robin said, “It will be interesting to see cricket in a new form. I am fortunate that I can bring in some of the experience to cheer my squad, albeit from the sidelines. All of us have played tennis ball cricket at some time in our lives in India. So it would be great to relive that experience.”

The tournament after its first successful edition is on the expected lines to encounter even greater success this time around. With Wasim Akram being the brand Ambassador of the tournament, more fans can be expected to come to the stadiums at Sharjah to get a sight of the legendary fast bowler. Earlier, Akram even unveiled the jersey, anthem and the trophy of the tournament at the launch event that was held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Dubai Festival City.

The launch was attended by the teams along with several other franchise owners along with sponsors and other commercial partners. The tournament boasts the highest prize money for tennis ball cricket anywhere in the world and is valued at a total of 250,000 Dirhams.
