The 12th edition of Indian Premier League went pretty bad for Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore as they started the season with six consecutive losses. Though they bounced back and started winning, their winning wasn’t enough to qualify for the playoffs. However, they had a slight chance to win the previous game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Bengaluru against Rajasthan Royals (RR), the game was called off due to heavy rain and eventually, RCB eliminated from the league.
Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Rohan Gavaskar, who is currently busy with his stint as a commentator in IPL, said that India captain Virat should take rest now for the upcoming World Cup.
“From an Indian cricket point of view, I hope this gives Virat Kohli a bit of rest because he is so important to all of us from the World Cup point of view. I’m not sure he’ll take a rest as that’s the kind of cricketer he is. He always wants to be involved so I’m not sure he’ll rest himself,” Gavaskar told CricketNext.

“This is also an opportunity for RCB to try and play the youngsters, the Indian youngsters in the squad, throw them in the deep and see how they perform in the IPL in front of big crowds, television cameras. It also gives an idea of who to invest in for the future or who you can discard,” he added.
India will start their campaign against South Africa in the World Cup on June 5 at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. Virat Kohli is one of the key players of India in the mega event. He has the ability to turn the table single-handedly. Earlier, he had played two World Cups in 2011 and 2015 under Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s captaincy and this will be his first World Cup as the captain.
