Rohit Sharma And Kuldeep Yadav Have Comeback In India’s ODI Squad

BCCI has announced India’s ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming series against West Indies at home. As expected skipper Rohit Sharma has made comeback to both squads after recovering from his hamstring injury and apart from that, Kuldeep Yadav has also made a comeback in the ODI squad. However, Rohit reportedly cleared the fitness test before the selection meeting and is now set to lead India in both series. Also, Rohit and Virat Kohli will play together for the first time since the captaincy saga.

Meanwhile, there are certain changes in the pace attack of Team India as Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been dropped from the ODI squad. He didn’t pick up a single wicket in 18 overs and conceded runs at a run rate of more than 7. Jasprit Bumrah, however, has been rested to manage his workload and the same is the case with off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and Mohammed Shami.

The rest of the bowling attack that traveled to South Africa for the ODIs has been retained with the surprise inclusion of Kuldeep Yadav. Deepak Chahar was impressed with both bat and ball in the only game he played while Prasidh Krishna managed to scalp three wickets in the final ODI.

Kuldeep Yadav became a force to reckon with for India post-2017 Champions Trophy but he was eventually got sidelined in the last few tours. However, he has found a place yet again with India and is expected to be India’s solution for spinners’ struggles. Washington Sundar has also made a comeback after missing the South Africa tour due to a positive COVID test.

Ravi Bishnoi has also received a maiden call-up in the T20I series and ODI series. On the other hand, Avesh Khan has also got his maiden call-up for the series. Senior fast bowlers like Mohammed Shami, apart from Bumrah have bees rested for the series. KL Rahul will be available from the 2nd ODI whereas Jadeja is in his final stage of recovery. Axar Patel will be available only for T20Is. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami have been rested from both the squads.
