The Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma has been struggling for runs in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. He has scored just one half-century and has only managed to accumulate 89 runs in five innings Down Under. He came to Australia talking big about how the Indian batters will be playing fearlessly and look to maximize the power play but with conditions favoring the bowlers, the Men in Blue had to change their game plan.

Rohit Sharma himself admitted that rather than throwing the kitchen sink at everything, they had to take calculated risks and respect the conditions. During the pre-match press conference, Rohit Sharma said, “I remember talking about playing fearlessly. For us looking at the conditions here, it is not about coming and swinging the bat. It is only because of conditions. It is about adapting to conditions.”

When the Indian skipper was asked why Suryakumar Yadav has managed to succeed while playing fearless cricket, Rohit tried to use his wit to answer the question which did not sit well with fans on social media. The 35-year-old talked about SKY has managed to play fearlessly because he doesn’t carry any baggage with him.

Rohit later clarified his statement by adding that when he mentioned baggage, he didn’t mean about the number of suitcases SKY carries because he carries a lot of them since he is a shopaholic.

“I think he is the sort of guy who just doesn’t carry any baggage with him. Not his suitcases, I mean he’s got a lot of suitcases. Honestly speaking, he loves his shopping. But when it comes to carrying that extra pressure, extra baggage,” Rohit added.

Fans, however, did not like Rohit’s funny take on SKY’s batting especially when he himself is short of runs in the tournament.

Rohit’s only half-century in the ongoing T20 World Cup came against a lower-ranked Netherlands side. Meanwhile, many experts and former cricketers are backing Rohit to come good in the semi-finals and final. Indian fans too would be hoping that Rohit gets going against England and help India reach a World Cup final after eight years, the last time the Men in Blue played a World Cup final was in 2014 where they lost to Sri Lanka.
