India is locking horns with South Africa in the opening game of the three-match T20I series at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. Team India witnessed a dream start as they managed to take 5 wickets in the first three overs of the match itself owing to a brilliant opening spell from Deepak Chahar and Arshdeep Singh. In the 6th over, it looked like Arshdeep would get his 4th wicket when Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav forced Rohit Sharma to take the DRS.

Earlier in the game, the Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bowl first on a greenish track. India made four changes as Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Hardik Pandya are missing the series and Rishabh Pant and Arshdeep Singh replaced them, however, Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal made way for Deepak Chahar and R Ashwin.

Coming back to the incident, as the Indians faintly appealed for a caught behind, the umpire denied the appeal. However, Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli enthusiastically expressed their disagreement as it seemed that they heard nick and urged Rohit Sharma to take the DRS. The Indian skipper gave in to their convincing appeal and decided to go to the TV umpire.

The replays on the big screen revealed that there was a noticeable gap between the bat and the ball, while the snicko confirmed the same suspicions. Rohit Sharma could not help but laugh at the error along with Rishabh Pant, hardly bothered by the waste of his DRS given the present situation of the match.
