Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper, Rohit Sharma garnered a lot of has won hearts with his brilliant gesture for spinner Rahul Chahar after the impressive win over Delhi Capitals in the first Qualifier on Thursday. The four-time champions registered a dominating win of 57 runs against Delhi to seal their spot in the final for the fifth time.

Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, MI broke no sweat in winning the match as they took another step towards the title. Asked to bat first, Mumbai Indians managed to reach teh total of 200 for 5 in their quota of 20 overs despite Rohit and deputy skipper, Kieron Pollard failing to open their accounts.

Ishan Kishan was the highest scorer for MI as he played an unbeaten knock of 55 while Suryakumar Yadav scored 51. Hardik Pandya gave the much-needed momentum in the final overs as he scored 37 off just 14 balls with the help of five sixes. In reply, Delhi Capitals finished on 143 for 8.

Marcus Stoinis was the top-scorer for DC as he scored 65 and helped Delhi post a respectable score after being reduced to 0 for 3 and then 41 for 5. For Mumbai, Jasprit Bumrah picked up 4 wickets for just 14 runs off his four overs.

After the game ended, Rohit Sharma’s heartwarming gesture won a lot of heart as he allowed Rahul Chahar to lead the team for the fist pumps. The spinner had a poor outing with the ball as he conceded 35 runs in just two overs without taking a wicket. But Rohit’s gesture boosted the confidence of the youngster.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians will now take on the winner of the second qualifier which will be played between Delhi Capitals and the winner of the Eliminator between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH).
