The men in blue are preparing for an electrifying Sunday night encounter against arch-rivals Pakistan in the men’s Asia Cup 2022. On Wednesday, the Indian team took part in its first training session as Virat Kohli, who is making a return to the team after almost a month (having skipped two limited-overs series to West Indies and Zimbabwe), could be seen smashing massive hits – particularly against spinners.

However, the Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma also toiled hard in the nets but he also found time for fun following the session on Thursday. In a video posted by the official Twitter account of the BCCI, Rohit could be seen riding a kick scooter near the boundary line and even inside the ground! “Vroooming into the end of practice session – Captain @ImRo45 style,” the BCCI wrote as they shared the video.

Rohit Sharma is also making a return to the team after he was rested for the Zimbabwe tour; KL Rahul, who is likely to be the Indian captain’s opening partner in the game against Pakistan on August 28, had made his return to the national team after almost six months in Zimbabwe.

Earlier last week, Rohit Sharma had spoken in detail about the Pakistan clash, insisting that it was just a game of cricket at the end of the day and there is little point in burdening players with extra pressure.

Talking about the same, Rohit Sharma said, “Everyone watches the game especially India vs Pakistan. Without a doubt it is a high-pressure game but within the group we want to create a normal atmosphere and don’t want to hype this game within ourselves. For us it is just a game of cricket. It is important for me and Rahul (Dravid) bhai to tell the players that it’s just another opposition.”

However, the men in blue will be commencing the campaign without the presence of head coach Rahul Dravid in the dugout as the head coach tested positive for Covid-19 before Team India’s departure for UAE earlier on Tuesday. In his absence, VVS Laxman was named the interim coach.
