Mumbai Indians’ veteran opener Rohit Sharma is back in the nets as the team resumes its preparations for the second phase of IPL 2025. After a week-long suspension due to escalating border tensions between India and Pakistan, the tournament is set to restart on May 17, with Mumbai Indians next in action on May 21 at the Wankhede Stadium.

As the league heads into its business end, MI have wasted no time getting back into rhythm. Rohit Sharma was among the prominent faces seen training intensely alongside Karn Sharma, Tilak Varma, Robin Minz, and Ashwani Kumar.

Batting first, MI managed a respectable 155/8, thanks largely to Will Jacks’ fluent 53 off 35 balls. However, the Titans, chasing a DLS-adjusted target of 147, clinched victory on the final ball. A missed run-out chance by captain Hardik Pandya at the non-striker’s end proved costly.
That defeat pushed Mumbai Indians to fourth place in the points table with 14 points from 12 games. With the playoff race heating up, MI find themselves in a tight spot. To ensure qualification without depending on other results, they must win both of their remaining matches — against Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings.
