Rohit Sharma Reveals Practicing Bowling for Test Cricket

With no cricket going on, all the cricketers have a lot of free time on their hands right now. Many cricketers have also been proactive on social media in the past few weeks. Amid the lockdown, India opener Rohit Sharma is focussing on other aspects of his game. The Mumbai Indians captain also shared how he missing bowling cricket after his finger injury.

The 33-year-old  Rohit Sharma appeared on a Star Sports show ‘Cricket Connected’ to engage with his fans and discuss cricket. During the same, Rohit Sharma spoke on his finger injury and various several other topics.

Interestingly, Rohit has a T20 hat-trick to his name which he picked in the IPL while playing for the Deccan Chargers. Surprisingly so, Rohit Sharma’s hat-trick came against his current team Mumbai Indians during the 2009 season of the Indian Premier League.

Speaking on the show, Rohit said, “I miss my bowling! Since I injured my finger, I’m unable to grip the ball and I can’t bowl the way I used to. Wankhede’s pitch doesn’t give me a chance to bowl, so I stay away from it.”

Rohit Sharma added how he wants to bowl at least a minimum of 10 overs in Test cricket if given ann opportunity in the longest format of the game. He said, “In Tests, I try to bowl because that gives bowlers a break. To help the team, I mentally prepare myself to bowl 10 overs in a Test match.”

Earlier, former India batsman Mohammad Kaif was asked to choose between India’s two modern-day legends in Virat and Rohit. Kaif named Rohit Sharma and shared how he’d prefer watching limited-overs vice-captain Rohit over team captain Virat Kohli.

“If there are two matches happening in the same city simultaneously and Virat is playing in one and Rohit in another, then I will head to the match featuring Rohit Sharma,” Kaif had commented.
