On Day 3 of the final game of the two-match series between India and Sri Lanka, home skipper, Rohit Sharma was seen enjoying his 400th international match. Earlier in the day, Sri Lankan batter, Kusal Mendis was batting brilliantly on Day 3 of Sri Lanka’s second innings in the pink-ball Test match against India as he played a dependable knock of 54 runs off 60 balls with the help of 8 fours, against the world-class Indian bowling unit.

On the 4th ball of the 20th over veteran off-spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin managed to break the partnership between Mendis and Dimuth Karunaratne by dismissing the former. Ashwin bowled a delivery that kept going with the angle and the Sri Lanka batter decided to come down the track to play for the turn but he missed it, the ball went past the outside edge and Rishabh Pant made no mistakes behind the stumps and he pulled off a brilliant stumping.

However, during the 25th over of Sri Lanka’s second innings, Rohit Sharma was seen teasing the umpire by almost taking a DRS call. In incident took place in over of Ravindra Jadeja, on the penultimate ball of the over, Jadeja fired a quick one, and managed to beat the outside edge of Dhanajaya de Silva’s bat and Rohit Sharma almost took a DRS call.

Slipping down leg for sure On Day 2, it was complete domination from the hosts owing to the brilliant performances from Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah left the Dimuth Karunaratne and co. struggling. Sri Lanka batters in their first innings were unable to survive for very long against the Indian bowling unit and got bundled out for 109 in 35.5 overs.

In India’s second innings almost, every batter did a decent job. The two best performers were Rishabh Pant, who smashed the fastest fifty by an Indian, and Shreyas Iyer, who smashed amazing 67 runs. Then, Shreyas Iyer and Ravindra Jadeja had built a brilliant partnership of 66 runs before Jadeja was cleaned up by Vishwa Fernando and Iyer was dismissed by Embuldeniya.

Also, Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin got out early and India declared at 303/9 to give Sri Lanka a mammoth target of 447 runs to chase. Chasing the target Lahiru Kumara was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah in the first over itself and at stumps on Day 2, Sri Lanka was 28/1 in 7.0 overs.
