The moment arrived on the second delivery of the seventh over of India’s innings. Jamieson bowled a back-of-a-length delivery outside off stump, but Rohit picked up the length early and moved forward to execute a classic pull shot. He struck the ball cleanly, sending it sailing over cow corner for his first six of the innings.

Rohit later cleared the boundary once again against the New Zealand seamer. However, Jamieson eventually had the last laugh, dismissing the Indian opener in the ninth over. Rohit departed after scoring 23 runs off 28 deliveries, including two fours and two sixes.

India’s chase had already suffered early setbacks, with captain Shubman Gill falling for a golden duck and Virat Kohli managing just seven runs off seven balls. At the time of writing, India were 40/3 after 10 overs, requiring another 95 runs to win. Shreyas Iyer (9 off 18) and Axar Patel (0 off 6) were at the crease.

Earlier, New Zealand struggled against India’s disciplined bowling attack after being asked to bat first. Auqib Nabi provided the visitors with an excellent start by dismissing openers Tim Seifert (0 off 5) and Will Young (6 off 17). Anshul Kamboj then removed Henry Nicholls for 11 off 26 deliveries.

Gurnoor Brar further damaged the New Zealand innings by dismissing Tom Latham (7 off 24) and Glenn Phillips (0 off 4), reducing the hosts to 53/5.
