Former India seamer, RP Singh reckons either Dinesh Karthik or KL Rahul has to miss the crucial Super 4 match against Pakistan to make way for Rishabh Pant. RP Singh pointed out that Pant needs to be in the playing XI in the Asia Cup because of his match-winning abilities.

Pant, who has been an integral member of the Indian T20I team, was left out of the playing XI against Pakistan last week, with Dinesh Karthik performing the wicket-keeper’s role. Interestingly, Rishabh Pant was recalled to the playing XI against Hong Kong and took over the wicketkeeping role even as Karthik retained his place in the side.

Hardik Pandya, who was rested for the Hong Kong game, will surely be returning to the XI for the Super 4 clash against Pakistan, which will put Pant’s place in jeopardy once again.

Talking about the same during a chat with India TV, RP Singh said, “One of DK (Dinesh Karthik) and KL Rahul needs to be rested and Pant needs to be in the XI. Pant deserves to play. He is a match-winner, and if he performs, he can take India home. In the previous game, DK didn’t keep, which left me a little confused. Because he kept the wickets in the first game and so he is your first choice.”
RP Singh opened up on Rahul’s lean patch with the bat in recent times and said that his timing and analysis of match situations are concerning.
