While Bangladesh was very close on their first T20I victory against India and also to claim the 2018 Nidahas Trophy, Rubel Hossain conceded 22 runs in the crucial 19th over which shifted the moment totally. While India won the match through the last ball six that hit by Dinesh Karthik, Rubel wants apologizes to the Bangladesh fans.

It was all set for Bangladesh when India needed 34 runs in just 12 balls. Dinesh Karthik just came to the bat after the set batsman Manish Pandey was dismissed.

Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan handed the ball to pacer Rubel Hossain for the 19th over who had the brilliant bowling figure at that time (3-0-13-2). In the 19th over, Rubel conceded total 22 runs including two sixes and two fours.

India needed 12 runs in the last over for victory while Bangladesh had the short of regular/specialist bowlers for that period. Soumya Sarkar bowled the last over who was very nervous and failed to keep his nerve at the final moment. When India needed 5 runs in the final delivery, Dinesh Karthik hit for a match-winning six.

Rubel Hossain felt terrible after the match result. The 28-years old right-arm pacer took the blame on himself and asked for forgiveness. He quoted according to Bangladesh’s leading newspaper Prothom Alo, “I am feeling terrible after the defeat. I never thought I would be the reason for Bangladesh’s defeat. We were so close to winning in the final but because of me, we lost. I want to apologize to the fans and ask for forgiveness.”

However, Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan backed Rubel as he told after the match, “He (Rubel) didn’t miss by much. I don’t know many batsmen who can hit a six off the first ball, and then keep hitting the boundaries. There are very few instances in history. There was something otherworldly about it. He got nervous after going for 10 runs off the first two balls. I still feel that I will back him the next time such a situation comes.”
