Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the eighth match of IPL 2025 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and opted to bowl first, considering the potential impact of dew later in the game. Early on, Gaikwad produced a moment of brilliance in the field, dismissing the in-form Devdutt Padikkal, who was striking at over 200.

The turning point came in the eighth over when Gaikwad showcased sharp reflexes to take a low catch at cover. Umpire Nitin Menon wasted no time in signaling out, confirming the dismissal after a quick check with the third umpire.

Devdutt Padikkal had made room to drive a full delivery with elegance, but the ball traveled low and fast into Gaikwad’s safe hands. It was an early breakthrough, but RCB wouldn’t be too concerned given their batting depth.

RCB’s stand-in captain, Rajat Patidar, remained optimistic, saying, “We wanted to bowl too, but the surface looks hard, so it wouldn’t have made much difference.
