Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has become the recent entrant to the list of celebrities showing their support for the martyrs of the Pulwama terrorist attack last Thursday. The cowardly attack from Pakistan-based militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed resulted in more than 40 Indian CRPF troopers losing their lives while several others fatally injured. Ever since the attack, the Indian cricketing fraternity has shown support towards the CRPF personnel families and Tendulkar has joined the bandwagon too.

Sachin will join thousands of runners during the upcoming New Delhi Marathon on Sunday to raise funds for the families of the martyrs. He will also do 5-10 push-ups before the start of each of the four races as part of the #KeepMoving Push-up Challenge. He will be joined by the runners during the exercise.

For each of the participants in the challenge, organizers IDBI Federal will donate ₹100 towards the fund for the martyrs’ families. As per reports, more than 18,000 runners are likely to feature in the marathon that will have four races – full marathon (2000), half marathon (6000), timed 10K (5500) and 5K Swachch Bharat Run (4500).

Tendulkar, who is the Brand Ambassador of IDBI Federal Life Insurance, stressed on the importance of doing the exercises, he said, “I firmly believe that success lies in pushing our limits and challenging ourselves, as we are our only competition. This is why we are organizing the #KeepMoving Push-up Challenge at this year’s IDBI Federal Life Insurance New Delhi Marathon. I would request all runners to join me in taking this challenge and making a commitment to a fitter future.”

Vighnesh Shahane, MD & CEO, on the other hand, said, “Our country has witnessed a terrible attack in Pulwama and we offer our condolences to the families of the martyrs. To support these brave souls and their families, we encourage all the 18,000 runners to join Sachin Tendulkar in being a part of the #KeepMoving Push-Up Challenge.”

The cricketing fraternity has not only shown support to the CRPF troopers but has also joined hands with the rest of the country to corner Pakistan. In the latest development, reports are suggesting that the BCCI is planning to persuade the ICC to not allow Pakistan in the upcoming World Cup for sheltering terrorists. There are also widespread calls to boycott them in the upcoming mega event and end all bilateral ties.
