Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) won the toss and elected to bowl first against Gujarat Titans (GT) in their IPL 2025 clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Sticking to a settled combination, SRH named an unchanged XI, while GT made one notable change—bringing in South African pacer Gerald Coetzee in place of Karim Janat.

Under Shubman Gill’s leadership, the Gujarat Titans have been one of the standout teams this season, showing marked improvement from their disappointing 8th-place finish in the previous edition. With six wins from nine matches, GT are firmly in the playoff race. However, they head into this fixture looking to bounce back from a demoralising defeat against the Rajasthan Royals.

That loss was particularly hard to digest as it came at the hands of 14-year-old sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who stole the show with a blistering knock, helping Rajasthan chase down a daunting 210 with 4.1 overs to spare. GT’s bowling unit, usually reliable, looked completely rattled as Rajasthan sealed a dominant eight-wicket win.

Early in the innings against SRH, GT opener Sai Sudharsan looked to take control. Facing Mohammed Shami in the third over, Sudharsan struck four consecutive boundaries with effortless precision. The first came off a short delivery angled away, pulled with confidence. The second, short and wide, was slashed past deep third.

The third was a clever nudge off a length ball, using the pace to guide it past short third. And the fourth, a half-tracker on leg, was pulled behind square with grace. Despite GT’s recent setback, their top-order firepower remains their biggest strength, and performances like Sudharsan’s early flourish suggest they are still a major threat as the business end of the tournament approaches.
