Gujarat Titans suffered an injury scare during their high-scoring IPL 2026 clash against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Saturday after opener Sai Sudharsan was struck painfully on the elbow by a sharp delivery from Karthik Tyagi. The young left-hander looked in visible discomfort immediately after the blow and eventually walked off the field, retired hurt, during GT’s daunting chase of 248 runs.

The match itself turned into a batting spectacle after KKR posted a massive 247/2 in their 20 overs. After being sent in to bat by Gujarat skipper Shubman Gill, Kolkata’s top order completely dominated the Titans’ bowling attack.

Finn Allen led the charge with a breathtaking innings of 93 off just 38 balls. The explosive New Zealand batter survived two dropped chances — one each from Jason Holder and Mohammed Siraj — before making GT pay heavily. Allen smashed 10 towering sixes and reached his half-century in only 21 deliveries.

Ajinkya Rahane provided a steady start with 14 runs before Siraj dismissed him, while Angkrish Raghuvanshi anchored the innings brilliantly from the other end. The young batter remained unbeaten on 82 off 44 balls, showcasing composure and clean hitting throughout the innings. Cameron Green also added late fireworks with an unbeaten 52 off 28 deliveries as KKR finished with one of the highest totals of IPL 2026.

In reply, Gujarat Titans came out aggressively with Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill racing to 42 runs in just three overs. However, Sudharsan’s injury halted the momentum as Nishant Sindhu came in as the replacement batter.

Sindhu failed to make an impact and was dismissed by Sunil Narine for just one run. Despite the setback, Gill and Jos Buttler launched a strong counterattack to keep Gujarat alive in the chase.

The duo stitched together a superb 123-run partnership, with both batters bringing up half-centuries under pressure. Gill played a captain’s knock of 85 before falling to Narine, while Buttler continued the chase alongside Sudharsan’s return as GT attempted to pull off a memorable run chase at Eden Gardens.
