Star Pakistan batter Babar Azam found himself on the receiving end of some light-hearted trolling from England’s Sam Billings, after the two batters ended up on opposite ends of the record books in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL). Babar, representing Peshawar Zalmi, registered the slowest half-century of the tournament, reaching the landmark in 47 balls against Islamabad United.

In sharp contrast, Sam Billings, playing for Lahore Qalandars, smashed the fastest fifty of the season, getting there in just 19 deliveries against Quetta Gladiators. The striking difference between their performances was highlighted on Instagram by a popular cricket page, and Billings cheekily reshared the post on his story.

To add a humorous twist, he added background music from the hit Indian web series Panchayat, giving the trolling a tongue-in-cheek flair that quickly went viral among fans.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Super League is set to resume on May 17, after being temporarily suspended due to rising border tensions between India and Pakistan. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that the final will be held on May 25.

However, teams are facing a major challenge in bringing back their overseas players, many of whom had left the country following the security concerns. While the Pakistan Cricket Board had initially explored the option of relocating the remaining matches to the UAE, they ultimately decided to resume the tournament in Pakistan.

A PCB official revealed that the franchises — excluding Multan Sultans, who are already out of playoff contention — are actively in talks with player agents to convince overseas stars to return. If those efforts don’t yield results, the Board may organize a mini replacement draft to allow teams like Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Islamabad, and Peshawar to rebuild their squads.

With the business end of the PSL approaching, teams will be eager to regain full strength to keep their playoff dreams alive.
